Tuesday, Sept. 17, 1996, in the Meadowview Care Center, Seville. Born Sept. 15, 1902, in Lewisville, she was a homemaker and a member of the Medina Church of Christ in Medina. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs.

Wilbert (Beryl) Morrison of Lodi, Mrs. John (June) Hester of Seville and Mrs. Rolland (Mona) Bigley of Medina; seven grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Susan Sloan Smith; her husband, Amos Mobberly, who died Aug. 13, 1979; two brothers, Forrest Smith and Raymond Smith; three sisters, Florence Powell, Estella Koehler and Edna House; one half-sister, Etta Wittenbrook; two half-brothers, Jay Devore and Delbert Devore; and one granddaughter, Charlene Morrison.

She had worked at the Bloomer Candy Co. for five years and prior to that had worked at Bethlehem Shipyard in Baltimore, during World War II. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Surviving are a son, Edward J. Matthews of Cleveland; three grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren; and a brother, Edward J. Harsch of Timonium, Md. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward J. and Catherine Millfelt Harsch; her husband, Thomas Ralph Matthews, who died Feb.

Turner, 81 ZANESVILLE Ruth S. Turner, 81, of 1126 Adair died at 6:40 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, 1996, at the Good Samaritan Hospice. Born Oct.

21, 1914, in New Concord, she was a Zanesville resident since 1963 and was a public relations director for the 648 Board. She Turner was an active member of Central Presbyterian Church and a member of the Senior Bethesda League. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Charles (Patricia) Elliott of Ithaca, N.Y., Mrs. Anthony (Karen) Adornetto of Zanesville and Mrs.

Michael (Ellen) Nolan of Frankfort, one son, William Turner of Houston, Texas; 12 grandchildren; six greatgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh M. and Bertha L. Mackey Speer; her husband, Luther B. Turner, who died in 1959; three sisters, Sara Hunt, June Speer and Mary Johns; and two brothers, David Speer and John Speer.

Wood, 83 ZANESVILLE Charles R. Wood, 83, of Zanesville, died at 7:57 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, 1996, at Adams Lane Care Center after a brief illness. Born Tuesday, Sept.

17, 1996, in Zanesville, he was co-owner and founder of Business Equipment Co. from 1945 to 1979 and was a lifelong resident of Zanesville. He was past master and member of the Lafayette Lodge 79 for 61 years, member of Amrou' Grotto, Zavi Shrine, Scottish Rite, past president of Sertoma and served on the board of directors for the Salvation Army. He was an Army veteran, having served in the 563rd Ordinance (HM Company Tank) in World War II. He was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ and attended the Rolling Plains United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Doris Smith Randolph Wood of the home; two sons and daughters-inlaw, John R. and Lois Wood of Zanesville and James A. and Anne Wood of Boones Mill, one daughter and son-in-law, Charlene and Maurice Marietti of Medford, one stepson, Craig Randolph of Zanesville; one stepdaughter, Susan Crigger of Wytheville, 11 grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren; and four stepgrandchildren.
