www.peabodyfuneralhome.com HENRY, Dr. Rodman Robinson Age 86, formerly of wellesley. Ma. passed away eptemuer 22nd in Pittsfield after a Ishort illness. He was born in Pittsfield on May 26, 1925 Jto Rodman Cleveland Henrv and Grace Robinson Henry.

He fraduated from Pittsfield High chool in 1943 where he was actively involved in the music department as first cellist in the orchestra, upon graduation he entered the u. S. Army in September 1943. In the army Henry received the Bronze Star for bravery for defending his unit under fire as a member of the 88th Mountain Division in Italy. He also received the Purple Heart and was honorably discharged in 1945 from Company, 349th Infantry.

He graduated from American International College in 1950 with a bachelor of science degree and in 1952 graduated from Boston university with an A.M in art history. He entered Harvard university and Fogg Museum after which he returned to Boston university and received his Ph.d in art history in 1959. During this period he worked at Tanglewood in the summer. During the time he was working for his Ph.d he was employed at Pine Manor College where he remained until his retirement in 1995 at age 70. He taught at Northeastern university, wentworth Institute, Boston university and Pine Manor College where he held many administrative positions.

In addition he reviewed for the Association of College and Research Libraries and their publication Dr. Henry received many honors and awards in his lifetime including the Clara Torrey ClementRodman R. Henry Professional Chair in Art History that was endowed for $250,000 and established at Pine Manor College in 1987. Dr. Henry returned to Pittsfield in 2005 where he pursued his passion in art and music.

He is survived by a sister. Fay J. Henry, of Pittsfield. Memorial Services will be held on Sept 28, 201 1 at the Chapel in the Pittsfield Cemetery in Pittsfield, MA at 1 1 am. Following the service there will be a reception.
