What is the fuel mix for a Stihl 131r? ›

All STIHL gasoline-powered equipment uses a 50:1 gas and oil mixture.

How can I properly adjust the carburetor on my Stihl KM 131 R? First, locate the three adjustment screws on the carburetor body. Turn the "L" screw clockwise until it lightly seats, then back it off counterclockwise one and a half turns. Repeat the same process with the "H" screw.

Use only high-quality brand-name gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 90 – leaded or unleaded.

If the proper precautions are taken, however, gasoline containing a 10% quantity of ethanol can safely be used in your STIHL products. Use a minimum of 89 octane gasoline and always use fresh fuel.

STIHL Fuel Stabiliser eliminates the need to drain fuel prior to storage. It also contains a water remover to prevent corrosion and carburettor cleaner to restore power. 15ml treats 5 litres of fuel.

If your carburettor has a main jet adjustment screw at the base of the float bowl, turn the screw clockwise until you feel it just touch the seat inside the emulsion tube. Then, turn the screw counterclockwise 1 to 1-1/2 turns. Replace the air cleaner assembly and start the engine for final carburettor adjustments.

All homeowner trimmers feature a loop handle, and you won't see “R” in the model number. For professional trimmers, the “R” indicates a loop handle, and all other trimmers have bicycle-style handles.

Use a 40:1 two-cycle oil mix ratio. One gallon of gasoline combined with 3.2 oz of two-cycle engine oil. Unsure of the age of your equipment? Use the 40:1 mixture.

For a 50:1 ratio of gas to oil, use 2.6 fluid ounces of oil per gallon of gas.

You'll need STIHL 2-Stroke oil, an empty and clean fuel can and fresh unleaded fuel. We recommend a 50:1 mix ratio (20mls oil per 1 litre fuel) when using STIHL 2-Stroke oil. If you're using a different brand of 2-Stroke oil, you'll need to mix at 25:1 (40mls oil per 1 litre fuel).

40 to 1 ratio

If you are unsure 40:1 is a middle range 2 stroke fuel ratio. This equals 25mls of two stroke oil to 1 litre of petrol. It is pretty easy to calculate, you just multiply the litre amount by 25.
