Older Hobby re-kindled (2)

Having a lot of fun with film these days.

At left, F-2 with 85mm f 1.8. F-3 with 50mm f 2 at right.

For everyday carry, the F-2 wears an older 50 f 1.4, and the F-3 gets the 85 .

The F-2 is an early photomic variant with the CDS swinging needle 60/40 meter. From the bit of searching I've done on the s/n, it's probably an early 73' version.

The 100% viewfinders in both cameras make a huge difference over the 92% and 96% finders that I carried previously. These finders are bright, and much easier to focus with...

Can expand a little further on recent acquisitions if anyone's interested...

Nice cameras there! They're in great condition as well. Every once in awhile I pull out my Dad's old 64 Nikon F Photomic.

Lol! Will keep in mind.

Kinda tapped after the latest spree. I think I am done for bodies unless there's a 79-80 F-2 body laying around.

Both cameras above have seen heavy use, but were generally well cared for. Both exhibit brassing through the black laquer. I have yet to see a chrome Nikon brass like these.

I had been after an F-2 since my mid twenties. At first I thought I wanted the A/S variant, but what I have now is actually better for me with all the pre-A/I lenses I've ended up with.

I have 3 lenses that are quite breath-taking. Two of them are pre-A/I and color shift a bit on the digital negative scans. The lab will correct for the cold orange/ copper if I ask them nice Older Hobby re-kindled (13)

Nice classic bodies!

Which reminds me, did Nikon ever put into production the digital-back for the F3?

-=-=-

Film camera are fun, I lusted for the longest time for a Leica M6... but couldn't justify the $$ when my old Contax 3a worked just fine.
- In hindsight, I should have probably kept it. But some guy had offered me what I thought was an offer just too good to pass-up...

I dusted off my old SLR film camera and kit a year or so ago... it's been all sitting in a case for over 20 yrs - but a new battery and everything sprung to life - there was even a roll of 24 loaded in the camera. Older Hobby re-kindled (16)
Everyhing seemed to work fine, so I put the entire kit on kijiji and marketplace for sale. I had only one bite, a real estate agent who showed up to have a look, eyes all glossy, until he asked "what size SD card does it take". End of story. Older Hobby re-kindled (17)

Where develops film these days? The last time I had film developed, Blacks and Fuji still hat stores in malls.

Cat tracks on thin ice at Sturgeon Creek.
Resized to fit here. The slightly high contrast range can be corrected if desired. I like leaving some as is.

Well.... Films.... I remember I used my dad's Contax when I was in middle school?! And then even films cameras but they were full auto Point and Shoot cameras...

And later... Digital cameras ruled... And I bought a 7D for myself many years ago... Now.... Cellphone rules...

I am doing too bad on portraits and landscapes, but I like marcos and shooting bugs and other small creatures / stuffs... Like caterpillars etc... [emoji38] Older Hobby re-kindled (33)

Older Hobby re-kindled (35)

About a 20% crop.
Nikkor 55mm micro in the last flat-field "K" version.
Wide open at f3.5 and hand-held.

The DX/APSC sensor is a huge improvement over the tiny sensors in my point and shoots, and phones.
I get the satisfaction of pulling this off with some pretty old manual glass.

Older Hobby re-kindled (36)

Another in the 20-25% crop range.
Nikkor 200mm f4 wide open at f4.

I am looking forward to this fall.

Wow, DS and Yep Yep.
Those are some great pictures.
I admire your ability not only to execute the technical elements to capture the quality of the picture, but even more importantly to know what to point your lens at.

Nice shooting!

Thanks Rob~ actually I think I do better on shooting camera than airguns... But airguns are easier to make me satisfied~

I was reading an ad yesterday for a Chinese 50mm lens with F-0.95 and then I read this post... Really bringing back some interest on my 'old' Canon 7D...
