2024 is shaping up to be an exciting year for the automotive industry. More and more electric cars are on the way. Ferrari has introduced an SUV, and we’ve got the all-new Ford Mustang to play with.
Out of all the new cars on the way, it’s challenging to decide which is best. Fortunately, we think we’ve managed to narrow down that list to 13 of the best cars of 2024.
We’ve selected these 13 based on their looks, performance, value for money, and practicality. To keep the list varied and exciting, we’ve tried to include a mix of daily drivers and sports cars.

With Dodge and Chevrolet abandoning or electrifying their muscle cars, it was refreshing to see Ford bring out a new Mustang for 2024. Even more exciting was that the new Mustang comes with the option of a 5.0-liter Coyote V8, producing 500 horsepower in the Dark Horse trim.
Starting at $31,920, the 2024 Mustang is easily one of the most affordable performance cars currently on the market. Ford clearly wasn’t done with the standard versions, however, as it gears up to introduce the Mustang GTD for 2025.
Renault 5 EV
The upcoming Renault 5 EV is one of the most exciting electric cars on the current market. The striking design is easily the best part of the new Renault 5, which is based on the original hatchback from the 1980s. Beneath that retro exterior, however, is a brilliant EV platform.
The new supermini makes use of Renault’s all-new electric car platform, and the powertrain will deliver up to 150 horsepower for the new EV. The new platform also promises to be ultra-efficient, and the highest trim level should achieve at least 220 miles of range. For a car that costs around $30,000, that is an impressive achievement by Renault.
Honda Prelude Concept
While it has yet to morph into an actual production car, Honda’s Prelude concept is one of the best-looking cars of 2024 so far. The best news is that the Prelude is coming back, and the idea provides a first glimpse of what the finished article will look like.
The new Prelude promises a sleek, curvy exterior with a remarkably clean front fascia and nice slender lines all the way to the back of the car. There are minimal overhangs, and the Prelude also has quite a chunky stance while retaining its elegance. Power is likely to come from a 2.0-liter 181 horsepower hybrid powertrain, and it is proof that coupes still have a place in this SUV-dominated market.
Red Bull RB17
Only a select few of us will ever be able to experience the striking power and speed of the Red Bull RB17. The RB17 is Red Bull’s first bespoke hypercar, designed by the legendary Adrian Newey as his farewell project to Red Bull Racing.
Under the hood is a 4.5-liter V10 built by Cosworth. Red Bull added an electric motor and tuned the engine to produce 1,200 horsepower. As a Newey-designed performance car, the RB17 will have plenty of aero and downforce, and naturally, this monster will be track-only. Active suspension and an ultra-light chassis are two other vital components to the RB17.
MG Cyber GTS
MG has started to make a name for itself for the first time in decades. The MG4 is arguably its best offering so far, but now it’s bringing out the MG Cyber GTS, an evolution of the MG Cyberster sports car as it turns its roadster into a GT coupe.
Unveiled at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed as a concept, and with such a positive reception, it’s likely MG will put the Cyber GTS into production. The company itself sounds keen, and it would show MG is firmly back on the map as an automotive manufacturer.
Renault Megane E-Tech
Not content with giving us the Renault 5 EV, the French manufacturer has decided to electrify its Megane and create what might be one of the best electric family hatchbacks currently on sale. The Megane E-Tech is a stylish EV that stands out among the likes of the Tesla range, and it utilizes the brand’s latest EV platform. That new platform will soon spawn the next-generation Nissan Leaf.
The Megane E-Tech is shorter than most modern hatchbacks, a welcome change in a world full entirely of massive SUVs and crossovers. The front-drive electric motors provide up to 220 horsepower, with around 280 miles of range. A figure that is likely plenty for most families.
Abarth 600e
Fiat electrified the 500 a few years ago, and sports division Abarth introduced the Abart 500e. Not content with this, Abarth will introduce its second hot EV, the 600e, later in 2024. Based on the Fiat 600e, the new Abarth has a highly aggressive body and lurid paintwork, and it has the Cupra Born firmly in its sights.
Despite its sporty credentials, the 600e’s interior looks impressive and comfortable, while the electric powertrain will provide 237 horsepower. That will make the Abarth 600e the most powerful car based on Abarth’s parent company, Stellantis, e-CMP2 platform.
Alpine A290
If you weren’t already excited about the Renault 5 EV, then the Alpine A290 will surely fix that. Alpine is Renault’s sports division, and in addition to making the A110, it will also produce the A290. This is the hot hatch version of the new Renault 5 EV, adding extra sporty credentials to the retro supermini.
Previewed with the 2023 A290 Beta concept, the production version will have two power outputs. The first is a 215 horsepower motor from the Renault Megane E-Tech, while the second powertrain option will see the hot hatch produce 268 horsepower. Production is set to begin in 2027.
Bugatti Tourbillon
The Bugatti Tourbillon marks a big change for the supercar manufacturer. Thanks to its hybrid powertrain, it is the first Bugatti to have electric power, but it still retains internal combustion power, thanks to the all-new V16.
Specifically, this is an 8.3-liter naturally-aspirated V16 engine that, combined with the hybrid power, will produce a combined 1,755 horsepower. That is a phenomenal amount of power and a sign that Bugatti shows no signs of slowing down in its post-Chiron world.
Fiat Grande Panda
Fiat has also decided to hop into the retro game with its new Grande Panda. This retro crossover is the Italian cousin to the Citroen e-CE, and the chunky 1980s-inspired model is set to launch with both hybrid and fully electric power.
The Grande Panda is a modern remake of the original Fiat Panda, which has become a classic thanks to its boxy looks. The base 44 kWh battery pack provides 198 miles of range, and the front-mounted electric motor produces 111 horsepower. The hybrid version will have a 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine and produce a combined 99 horsepower.
Ford Capri EV
There are certainly some downsides to the upcoming Ford Capri EV. Despite the name, it resembles no iconic Ford sports car, and the fact that it has become a bloated SUV/crossover is something that the public didn’t miss when it launched.
However, Capri is undoubtedly one of the better-looking crossovers. It will use Volkswagen’s MEB platform and be a direct rival to the Volvo C40 Recharge and Peugeot e-3008. An official range of 400 miles means it should make the ideal daily driver.
Hyundai Ioniq 6
With the Hyundai Ioniq 5 already causing a stir, Hyundai has gone one better and launched the sleek, streamlined Ioniq 6. The Ioniq 6 rides on the same E-GMP platform as its sibling, but it features a lower, more elegant, and streamlined body, which contrasts nicely with the boxy, 1980s retro design of the Ioniq 5.
The Ioniq 6 offers up to 361 miles of range and 320 horsepower, making it one of the best daily driver EVs on the market. It’s also one of the most affordable, with a starting MSRP of just $37,500. The Ioniq 6 is easily one of the best EVs currently on sale globally.
Chevrolet C8 Corvette E-Ray
While some might bemoan the fact that the Chevrolet Corvette has gone electric, it is a remarkable achievement. The C8 Corvette E-Ray combines the brilliant 6.2-liter 495 horsepower V8 from the Stingray with a 160 horsepower electric motor to produce 655 horsepower combined.
While doing this, it retains all the great features of the regular C8, such as the handling, acceleration, and design, plus its perfect weight distribution. You can hate on it all you want, but the C8 E-Ray is one of the best Corvettes ever produced.
