Does full body wax include face? ›

While a full-body wax usually refers to everything below the neck, some would include facial waxing in their definition. If you're accustomed to removing your body hair, you probably have used many different techniques for various parts of your body.

Like all waxing techniques, a Brazilian uses wax to remove pubic hair from the root. It can be done with either hot or cold wax. Your salon or waxer will likely use one of these two options. If you have a preference, ask which type they use when you book your appointment.

Overall, it depends on how much money you're willing or able to spend, and if you don't mind doing the work at home. Either way, expect your results to last much longer than the typical shave. "Waxing can be painful or uncomfortable, though the effects of waxing last longer," says Dr. Marisa Garshick.

Hollywood wax

This waxing method removes all the hair around the pubic bone, labia, upper thighs, and anus. Its name comes from its (supposed) popularity among Hollywood actors. It's also referred to as the “honeymoon wax.” This method removes all hair from your pubic region — and we do mean all!

Full face waxing can be excellent for removing unwanted facial hair all in one go. It can be superior to shaving (especially for men) because it removes hair from the root to avoid blunt, stubbly hairs from sprouting. Waxing gives a smooth finish that can last for weeks vs. shaving, which only lasts for a day or two.

It really depends on your comfort level and how you feel about being partially naked in front of another person. If you're generally uncomfortable with being naked in front of others, then you might find getting a Brazilian wax to be a bit awkward.

No matter which way you look at it, waxing is better for your skin than shaving. Shaving frequently can cause red bumps, breakouts, discoloration, and hyperpigmentation from the friction made by constantly running a razor over delicate and sensitive skin, which isn't something anybody wants!

Always ensure your hair is at least ¼ of an inch long before coming into your appointment. This is about the size of a rice grain. If your hair is longer than ½ an inch, feel free to trim it. We will do this for you otherwise.

Redness and irritation

Facial waxing can also cause mild redness and irritation temporarily after use. You may notice that freshly waxed skin is pink or red, and slightly sensitive to the touch. Your everyday facial products may also burn so you should avoid alcohol-based toners after waxing your face.

Are there cons to waxing? ›

Waxing can cause inflamed hair follicles, pain, redness, ingrown hairs and skin irritation. Removing female facial hair while using retinoid anti-aging or acne products can lead to abrasions, infection and even scarring, so be sure to do your homework before trying a wax.

Waxing produces fantastic results. You should also be aware that shaving can result in inflamed hair follicles, itching, ingrown hairs, and razor burn. Whereas waxing acts as a form of exfoliation. Waxing has the added benefit of assisting in the elimination of dead skin cells.

Affordable: While waxing is more expensive than shaving, it is considerably cheaper than other options such as electrolysis and laser hair removal, which don't work for everyone.

Every four to five weeks.

Regular waxing is essential. The skin will be less sensitive if waxing is done regularly. Over time the hair follicle will have less and less of a grip on the hair to be pulled and the hairs will come out more easily.

Waxing should last anywhere from 3 to 6 weeks, depending on your personal hair growth, the location of your wax, and the accuracy of the application. If you're not sure waxing is for you, there are many other forms of hair removal that will last anywhere from days to weeks and even more long-term.
