Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro, globally known as Cristiano Ronaldo, was born on 5 February 1985, in Funchal, on the island of Madeira, Portugal. Ronaldo, the youngest of four children, was named after Ronald Reagan, his father’s favorite actor who had become the US President at the time of Ronaldo’s birth.
Ronaldo’s passion for soccer became evident early in his life. By the age of eight, he was playing for Andorinha, an amateur team for which his father worked as a kit man.
